IC443 and NGC2175

Appearing between two bright yellow stars at the upper left is the supernova remnant IC443 in Gemini. The bright nebula at bottom right is NGC2175, known variously as either the Monkey Head or Monkey Paw nebula. Both nebulas and several other fainter gas clouds in the field glow reddish in color due to emission from hydrogen gas. Both nebulas are 5000 to 6000 light-years away.
